Officers of Kerry Branch of IFA meet to discuss controversies

IFA Farmers logoThe officers of the Kerry Branch of the Irish Farmers’ Association held a meeting in Tralee yesterday to discuss the current controversies that have beset the organisation. Last week, the organisation’s former general secretary Pat Smith resigned from the organisation after revelations of his pay package which amounted to over half a million euro in 2013. There is now a dispute over the severance payment agreed between Mr Smith and the IFA’s former president Eddie Downey who resigned earlier this week. The meeting of officers which includes chairperson, secretary and PRO of the Kerry branch comes ahead of the full county executive meeting next Monday night to discuss the crisis.
