Next Star Wars movie to be shot in West Kerry in April

Disney Lucasfilm is set to return to the Kingdom next year to shoot scenes for its new Star Wars film – but this time it’s the turn of West Kerry. Star Wars It’s understood Ceann Sibéal in Ballyferriter will provide the backdrop for Star Wars Episode: VIII and the film company was spotted in West Kerry recently surveying the area. RTÉ News reports that a number of local people have been approached about facilitating filming and it’s understood contracts have even been signed. But as was the case in Portmagee this year, those involved are bound by confidentiality contracts. It is also believed that filming will take place in April for the film which is due for release in 2017.
