A young Kerry man has criticised the help-to-buy scheme announced in yesterday’s Budget.
It’ll provide first-time buyers with a rebate of income tax paid over the previous four tax years, up to 5% of the purchase price of a newly built home with a maximum value of €400,000.
€20,000 is the most that can be claimed back.
Twenty-five-year-old Kian Griffin from Killorglin feels the help-to-buy scheme won’t mean anything for young people in Kerry.
He believes it’ll drive up prices and what’s needed is more supply.
