Volunteers in Dingle in 1915A group of people from West Kerry have just finished a night walk this morning over the Conor Pass in a re-enactment of An tSiúlóid Mór.

On Good Friday 1916, up to 150 volunteers walked from Ballyferriter and Dingle over the mountain pass to join the Easter Rising effort in Tralee.

Óglaigh Baile an Fheirteáraigh, against the direction of their parish priest, left Ballyferriter on Good Friday 1916, armed and with the intention of joining the Easter Rising effort in Tralee.

Up to 50 volunteers walked ten miles to Dingle where they were joined by 100 more.

The 150 strong group opted to walk over the mountainous terrain of the Conor Pass to avoid detection by British forces.

A group last night set out in the footsteps of their forefathers, over the Conor Pass, with groups from Annascaul and Camp joining along the way.
