A war of words has broken out about where the General Election count in Kerry should be held.

It follows calls for the recount in the local elections in the Listowel Municipal District to be facilitated in the town itself and not Tralee.
Sinn Fein Cllr Pa Daly says the General Election count should be held in Tralee which is the county town.
He believes it would benefit the majority of candidates and businesses if a town centre location is selected:

County Registrar Padraig Burke says the count centre location will be based on the most suitable venue in Kerry.
However, Independent Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae says locations such as Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre are not suitable for election counts due to a lack of facilities.
He says counts can go on for days and other locations would be preferable:
