A Tralee pensioner who’s raised over half a million euro for Concern is urging young people to take on the mantle.
Christy Murphy from Derrymore began fundraising for Concern in the 1970s.
The efforts of the grandfather and retired staff officer with Bus Éireann were recognised with an ‘Outstanding Commitment Award’ from the humanitarian organisation.
Christy says he was happy to accept the award on behalf of the team of volunteers that’s helped him over the years.
He’s also thankful to everyone who’s supported his fundraising.
