The Shannon helicopter is currently helping to evacuate the elderly man and woman from the Marco Polo, which is 150 nautical miles west of Kerry. Both are said to be in a serious but stable condition.
In a second operation, a lone yachtsman travelling from the Caribbean is experiencing difficulties 50 miles off the South Kerry coast.
The man, who’s travelling alone with his dog, is currently having engine and fuel problems and is expected to brought into Cork Harbour by lifeboat later this morning.
