Fine Gael councillor Patrick Connor-Scarteen has warned it’s only a matter of time before an accident happens and rate payers are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of regulation.
He had requested an update from Kerry County Council on progress being made to regulate the casual trading in the town.
He was told the issue was complex and the council had been trying to find a solution for some time.
A draft of casual trading bye-laws for Kenmare will now be prepared, followed by a period of non-statutory consultation which aims to get a general consensus between stakeholders.
