As many as a hundred people from throughout Kerry, are being fed in Tralee’s soup kitchen every Saturday.
It’s also emerged, that ten thousand meals have been given out in the facility in the past three years.
Founders of the charity, Colette Price and Dawn Roberts, say men over fifty are the biggest users of the soup kitchen.
But there’s been a surge recently in the number of women and young families needing help.
The soup kitchen is located at Teach an Solas near St John’s Church of Ireland on Ashe Street, Tralee, and opens on Saturdays at 12 noon.
Dawn Roberts says there are usually queues of people waiting for the kitchen to open, and many also take meals home with them.
