University Hospital Kerry has one of the safest records in maternity services when compared with other hospitals both nationally and internationally.
That’s according to Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr Richard Horgan, who specialises in high risk pregnancies at the hospital.
He says figures recorded at the hospital over the last few years have consistently been very good.
Dr Horgan was speaking following the deaths of two babies at Cavan General Hospital and the death of 34-year-old Malak Thawley at Holles Street Hospital on May 8th, following surgery for an Ectopic pregnancy.
He says he welcomes that maternity services are in the media eye.
Dr Horgan also allayed fears of expectant parents in Kerry, saying that having a safe practice is of paramount importance to staff at University Hospital Kerry.
