A week-long academic conference is underway in Cahersiveen.
University College Dublin is hosting the Skellig Coast Regional Launch of SmartLab Kerry.
Seminars – including an introduction for candidates to UCD’s structured thematic PhD in Inclusive Design and Creative Technology Innovation – are also taking place.
UCD’s SMARTlab project aims to bring together teams of artists, scholars, technologists and policy makers to share a commitment to creative technology innovation for social change.
For SMARTlab Kerry (Skelligs Region) Dr Oliver McCrohan, Brand Manager for Novartis, will be chairing an industry academia cross-sectoral advisory group.
This is to help establish the core research and researchers in the area with appropriate supports.
A team of leading academics will host a series of seminars throughout the week in Cahersiveen Library.
Event hosts include Kerry County Council Chief Executive Moira Murrell, Jean Byrne who introduced the ‘Institute Without Boundaries’ to Kerry County Council and solicitor June O’Connell June O’Connell, Chair of Naisc Skellig Kerry.
Kerry County Council and Fexco are among those supporting the week’s events in which artists and musicians will also engage.
The theme of the conference is ‘Muinín’, meaning confidence.
