Two of Kerry’s Seanad candidates have been eliminated following counting of votes cast on the Cultural and Educational Panel.
Six candidates from Kerry remain in the running for Seanad seats as counting in the Agricultural Panel continues today
Killorglin solicitor Liam Crowley of Fianna Fáil was eliminated on the sixth count of the Cultural & Educational Panel last night.
Tralee Fine Gael Cllr Jim Finucane, who was running for a Seanad seat on the same panel, was eliminated on the 13th count.
Six remaining candidates from Kerry remain in the Seanad Race.
Sitting Fianna Fáil Senator Ned O’Sullivan is re-contesting the Labour Panel.
Sitting Fine Gael Senator Paul Coghlan, Fianna Fáil Councillor Niall Kelleher and Tralee Mayor Thomas MacEllistrim are seeking Seanad seats on the Industrial and Commercial Panel.
On the Administrative panel, sitting Kenmare Senator Mark Daly of Fianna Fáil and Rathmore Senator Tom Sheahan of Fine Gael are seeking re-election.
Today the first count of votes in the Agricultural Panel has taken place – however no candidate from Kerry is in the running.
