Two young Killarney rowers are being treated for the early stages of Lyme disease.
The pair who are part of the Workmen’s Rowing Club were recently competing in the All-Ireland Coastal Championships in Donegal.
The club has alerted all parents of members who were at the event in Ballyshannon to check their children for a circular red rash on their bodies.
The two young rowers are being treated with antibiotics.
The condition is spread by infected ticks.
