« BackTwo Kerry TDs call for no increase in diesel excise duty

Two Kerry TDs have called for excise duty not to be raised on diesel in the upcoming Budget.

Independent Deputy Danny Healy-Rae asked the Taoiseach not to raise the VAT or excise on diesel as it would hurt working people and hauliers.

Fianna Fail TD John Brassil highlighted that farmers cannot take an increase in the levy on agri-diesel.

Deputy Brassil said it makes no sense for Government to consider such a move when farmers are in such a difficult position at present due to bad weather and income volatility.
