Two Kerry TDs have been appointed chairmen of Oireachtas committees.
Independent Deputy Michael Healy-Rae is now the chairman the Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs, while Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin is the chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Sport. Many political commentators had predicted that 34-year-old Deputy Griffin would be made a Minister of State, but he wasn’t among the appointments announced last month.
Deputy Griffin says he’s honoured to be appointed, and is looking forward to working closely with Minister Shane Ross, Junior Minister Patrick O’Donovan, and all committee members.
