« BackTree-mendous effort sees world record smashed in Killarney

Organisers of a world record attempt in Killarney say they are overwhelmed by the turnout to their event.

Killarney National Park - WoodlandThe previous record of 1,200 people in one place hugging a tree was held by South Korea.

This morning it is estimated that 1,700 people turned out in the grounds of Killarney House.

The event is part of the recent Killarney Festival of Trees and had to be postponed last week due to the weather.
