« BackTralee teenager’s death must not be in vain says Kerry councillor

The next government “needs to step-in” so the passing of a Tralee teenager – who had been waiting for an ICU bed – was not in vain.

19 year old Breda Kevane was admitted to Cork University Hospital on March 31st but only after her family lobbied for an ICU bed so she could undergo a life-saving operation.

Sadly Breda passed away yesterday morning.

Independent Councillor Sam Locke, says specialist beds in centres of excellence such as CUH need to be on stand-by for patients like Breda.

He said the next government need to intervene and highlight the issue to ensure Breda’s passing was not in vain:

As government formation talks continue, the Independent councillor, who supports the Healy-Raes, says another election seems increasingly likely.

Sam Locke says Fianna Fáil indicated they would abolish Irish Water and water charges in their manifesto.

He claims a u-turn at this stage may be unworkable.
