Tralee Municipal District is to write to the Court Service of Ireland urging it not to move Tralee Courthouse.
The Court Service says facilities need to be improved, but this can’t happen at the current site on Ashe Street, which has no wheelchair access unless by prior appointment.
It’s looking at transferring the facility from the early 19th century building to a site at the old Barracks in Ballymullen.
Councillors raised the issue at the Tralee Municipal District monthly meeting, and are to write to the Courts Service asking that it consider staying on Ashe Street and developing the facilitates there.
The Kerry Law Society has already voiced its opposition to the proposal.
