A Tralee councillor is calling for road signs to be correctly and fully translated into Irish.
Cllr Norma Foley highlighted signage in Farmers’ Bridge which has appeared as “Driochead Farmer” which she says is incorrect.
The Irish version should be Droichead na Feirmeoira.
The local authority says it is normal practice to obtain place name translations for signage would be to use the placenames database logainm.ie, which was used in this case.
The translation was also reviewed by the council’s Irish Office to ascertain if any known conflict with local spellings.
