« BackTralee businesses asked to dig deep for bigger Rose Festival

Tralee business will have to dig deep next year for a bigger than ever Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Executive director Anthony O’Gara says next year’s festival will go on from August 17th  to 26th when 70 Roses will travel to Tralee instead of the usual 32.

Next year there will not be any regional final in Portlaoise held before the August festival and the Rose Tour will be more Kerry focussed. There will also be a new TV show on the Sunday night, during which the contestants who have got through to the final will be announced.

Mr O’Gara says the festival organisers will also be re-examining the idea of holding an air show, given the tragic events in the UK this week. However, he warns a bigger festival will mean they will be looking for the support of the business community, especially the hotel and catering sectors.
