Listowel’s traffic warden is to get tough on private cars and vans who park illegally in the town’s Square.
The warden’s been instructed to police the area more vigorously, after complaints that tour buses can’t pull in and park during the busy summer months.
Kerry County Councillor Dianne Nolan says Listowel is losing valuable tourist revenue, because tour buses find they can’t find a parking space in the general vicinity of The Square, and therefore move on out of town.
The Sinn Fein councillor claims the problem is created by motorists who park in the bus bays in the North of the Square.
Kerry County Council has given a commitment that its traffic warden in Listowel will keep a close eye on the situation in the coming weeks.
