« BackThousands brave chilly Kerry waters for Christmas Day swims

Thousands of brave swimmers are taking to chilly waters around Kerry today for the annual Christmas Day swims.

Swims took place in the past hour in Lerriglough, Kilmoyley, Dundag Beach Killarney and in Fenit.
Around now swimmers take the plunge in Ballyheigue, Cuas Crom, Caherciveen, Portmagee and Derrynane.
A half hour later the action takes place on the Ladies Beach in Ballybunion and in Banna.
In Cromane they are took to the water at 11 o’clock to remember local man Denis O’Shea from Tullig, Killorglin who passed away after slipping into a diabetic coma last August.
Denis’ sister-in-law Roisin says the event is also to raise funds for Diabetes Ireland and increase awareness of the condition:
