« BackTeenage swimmers airlifted from Ballybunion to KGH

Two 15 year old swimmers have been rescued from the water at Ballybunion and taken to Kerry General Hospital.

At 4.03pm, Valentia Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public who had seen two swimmers experiencing difficulty off Nun’s Beach.

The swimmers were reportedly cut off by a large 2 metre swell.

The Coastguard tasked Ballybunion Coastguard, Ballybunion Sea & Cliff Rescue and Rescue Helicopter 115 out of Shannon.


They also issued an emergency sea broadcast.

Ballybunion Rescue Boat found the two swimmers and they were brought to Nun’s Beach where their condition was assessed.

A 5.07pm the two 15 year olds were airlifted by Rescue Helicopter 115 to Kerry General Hospital.

The teenagers are said to be suffering from mild hypothermia. They also sustained some cuts and bruises.
