A TD has said the loss of a factory in South Kerry is a “devastating blow” to the area.
Independent Deputy Michael Healy-Rae was speaking following the announcement today that Kenmare Select is to close.
Around 25 people are employed full-time in the factory which specialises in smoked salmon and fish products
Kenmare Select was started by French chef, Rémy Benoit, in 1991.
The produce had won awards nationally and internationally.
Staff were informed of the decision at a meeting this morning.
