« BackTalks ongoing as efforts continue to form a Government

Dail ChamberTalks between Independents and Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are ongoing as efforts continue to form a Government.
However no deal is likely ahead of the next Dáil vote on Wednesday to try and elect a Taoiseach.

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath again pointed out that not much is going to happen in these talks until Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil get talking to each other.
In the meantime each party is continuing to woo Independents with separate talks about policies.
Cork South West Independent Michael Collins says Independents are there to try and deliver for rural Ireland, and Kerry TD, Michael Healy Rae is beginning to lose patience.
The focus now is on Wednesday’s vote for Taoiseach – and just what will the Independents do – will they be willing to nail their colours to any mast? Roscommon Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice of the Independent Alliance.
Fine Gael negotiator Leo Varadkar tweeted last night a photograph of his posters cleaned and ready to go again – that’s left many of the Independents unhappy that a lead negotiator with one side appears to be far from committed to forming a Government.
