Kerry County Council has moved to allay fears that refugees from Syria are displacing people on housing waiting lists.
Director of Services John Breen says, given the scale and the stock of houses in Kerry, the numbers are not impacting existing waiting lists.
Kerry welcomed the first of 12 Syrian families to the county last week and the remaining families are due to arrive this week.
All have been in refugee camps in Lebanon and were invited by the Government to come here. Up to 17 more families are expected to arrive in 2016.
Mr Breen said the council is also looking for accommodation in Kerry.
