Support has not yet been sought from Cadbury staff in Rathmore in a dispute centering on outsourcing.
Hundreds of staff at the Cadbury plant in Coolock, Dublin today began an indefinite strike as they believe the parent company Mondelez is planning to outsource positions as part of cost saving measures.
Staff in Coolock and Rathmore have been issued with protective notice.
Over 80 staff are employed in the east Kerry plant which supplies crumb to Coolock and other plants.
Mondelez says it remains open to talks adding that any form of industrial action only further undermines the future viability of both Coolock and Rathmore.
