Subcontractors who allege they have not been paid for work improving the main Tralee- Dingle road say they will continue their protest until the matter is resolved.
Eight subcontractors are protesting at the site entrance to the N86 Annascaul to Gortbreagoge Road Improvement Scheme, which is near Annascaul school.
Noel Regan & Sons Plant Hire Limited is the main contractor and it subcontracted some of the project to BM Groundworks Ltd which in turn hired those involved in the protest.
The main contractor says the protest is because BM Groundworks had n
ot paid their subcontractors.
Noel Regan & Sons says those protesting at the site have not been employed at any time directly by them nor are they indebted to these sub-contractors of BM Groundworks.
The statement goes on to say that Noel Regan & Sons have at all times remunerated BM Groundworks in accordance with the contract.
However, this is disputed by BM Groundworks.
A company spokesman for them says they are in dispute with the principal contractor over payment issues and that their subcontractors have not been paid because they, BM Groundworks, have not been paid.
BM Groundworks say they are in negotiations to get this resolved as soon as possible.
Noel Regan and Sons disputes BM Groundworks’ statement.
Jimmy O’Dwyer is one of the protestors at the site in Annascaul:
