Students are to protest outside Kerry TD Arthur Spring’s constituency office in the coming weeks over the rise in student fees.
The Labour deputy says he acknowledges the right of the Union of Students in Ireland to protest, and is eager to engage with the students.
Meanwhile Kerry senator Marie Moloney has called on third level students whose grant applications are still being processed to contact Student Universal Support Ireland or SUSI.
The Labour senator says she’s aware of a number of applications that have not been delivered to SUSI’s head office in Dublin and she says that is not good enough.
Figures obtained by Sinn Féin on SUSI show there are 2,225 Kerry students whose applications are still being processed; only 457 applications from Kerry have had decisions made.
