Students at the Institute of Technology Tralee staged a walk out from their classes and a rally this morning in protest at industrial action by teaching staff.
The dispute over the college’s students’ complaints procedure began over two weeks ago, and according to the Students’ Union, TUI members aren’t providing students with feedback in relation to assessments or academic progress.
They also say TUI members have been directed not to attend student-lecturer meetings scheduled after exam results are released.
The Teachers Union of Ireland isn’t making any comment on the walk out as they say talks are at a sensitive stage.
President of the IT Tralee Students’ Union Ben Slimm says they can no longer tolerate the situation, and that’s why they staged the walk out of classrooms this morning, followed by the rally.
