British actor Dominic West says his reading of The Proclamation at a 1916 Commemoration at Ballybunion tomorrow shows how far Anglo-Irish relations have come.
He says as one of the millions of people with Irish ancestry who grew up in Britain but considers themselves to be Irish, he’s deeply honoured.
The actor also says he hopes Glin Castle in West Limerick, will be preserved as a tourist attraction.
West is married to Catherine Fitzgerald, daughter of the last Knight of Glin, whose family has been forced to put the castle on the market.
He says it’s an important part of local history and should be preserved.
