A Kerry county councillor is calling for a countywide reduction in speed limits outside schools and childcare centres which are adjacent to a main road.

Fianna Fáil’s John Francis Flynn made the call in the context of a current review of speed limits around the county.

He highlighted one such case where cars speed past the local national school and creche in Keel, Castlemaine, which he says is highly dangerous.

Cllr Flynn says at such locations a speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour should apply.
