A Kerry South TD is calling for the landfill site at Muingnaminanne to be opened to allow people to properly dispose of waste products.
Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae is calling for the North Kerry landfill site at to be opened, if only for two days a week.
The call comes in the wake of the deaths of over 20 cattle on a farm in Tarbert due to lead poisoning caused by a dumped car battery.
Over 50 people gathered at the farm last night to comb the ground to ensure no further cattle deaths ensue.
The lead poisoning is said to have rendered some of the surviving cattle blind.
Deputy Healy-Rae says he sympathies with the farmer involved.
However he stated the closure of landfill in North Kerry in 2014 has created a problem when it comes to the disposal of such products.
