« BackSmoking area in UHK mental health unit reopens

The Psychiatric Nurses Association have welcomed a decision to start using the smoking area inside the mental unit at University Hospital Kerry.

Smoking Ban

There had been a smoking ban implemented in the unit as part of the HSE’s policy to make the hospital a smoking free campus.

Concerns were raised that residents in the unit were smoking in bedrooms and dormitories could be a fire hazard.

It has now been decided that the smoking area will be open to residents from 7am to 11pm daily.
