Sinn Fein logoKerry Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris says he’s “comfortable” with the party’s internal pay policy of TDs, Senators and MEPs claiming the average industrial wage.

Deputy Ferris was responding to reports that, following an internal party review, the party is seeking to increase the pay of its public representatives by €2,500.

The proposal is set to go before Sinn Féin’s Árd Comhairle in December seeking to increase the pay of it’s party’s public representatives by €2,500 from €36,500 to €39,000.

Deputy Ferris told Radio Kerry News that, “personally, he’s quite comfortable with the way it is” currently.

He added however he fully undertands living on the average industrial wage, for people who have to live in Dublin for example, can be quite difficult.

Deputy Ferris said “he was bound by whatever the Árd Comhairle decides” however, and if the pay strucure is changed, “he’s OK with that as well”.
