43% of surveyed households in Tralee have a member who is out of work.
That’s according to the findings of a survey conducted by Sinn Fein in the town to coincide with the national launch of the party’s jobs plan.
The survey which was conducted in five housing estates over two weeks in September, also found that almost 30% of the households have someone who has emigrated or is planning to emigrate for employment.
Australia, Canada, and Britain were the most popular destinations for emigrants, according to the survey.
The survey also found that 87% of those questioned said they were not satisfied with the government’s efforts to tackle unemployment.
Sinn Féin’s Jobs Plan proposes to create over 4000 and save another 500.
The plan will have its local launch in Tralee this lunchtime by Deputy for Kerry North, West Limerick Martin Ferris.
