That’s according to an independent Economic Impact Assessment by W2 Consulting released today.

Shannon Foynes Port Company has jurisdiction over all marine activities and port management on the Shannon Estuary, covering 500km2 of water from Kerry and Loop Head in Co Clare to Limerick City.

The report predicts that unprecedented levels of investment at the company’s ports and on the estuary over recent years are set to continue, with €1.8 billion in capital expenditure planned for the lifetime of the port authority’s masterplan, Vision 2041.

It reveals that projected capital expenditure levels by the Shannon Foynes Port Company and its customers in the five years up to 2019 will reach €277 million, and support 3,372 jobs in the regional economy.
