Fianna Fáil senator Mark Daly says his party should have added a third candidate to its ticket for the General Election in Kerry.

Last Friday, Independent Alliance TD Tom Fleming from Scartaglen announced he would not be running in the election. Senator Daly says Deputy Fleming’s announcement meant there was an opportunity for Fianna Fáil to add a candidate from the greater Killarney and East Kerry areas. At present, there’s just one candidate from Killarney, Independent Kevin Murphy. Mark Daly says he would have been interested in being added to the Fianna Fáil ticket. Speaking to Jerry O’Sullivan, he says he raised the matter with party leader Micheál Martin who ruled it out.

Michéal Martin has been on the campaign trail in Killarney. He says there will be no third Fianna Fáil candidate contesting the election in Kerry.
