A Kerry senator says he understands that a large number of paintings and other items which went missing from Killarney House have been recovered by Gardaí.
Paul Coghlan – who is also one of the trustees of Muckross House – says the items were taken into storage by the National Parks and Wildlife Service when renovations began at Killarney House. The disappearance of 39 items, including 26 paintings, was contained in the 2014 report of the Comptroller and Auditor General. In 2012 two paintings, worth 32,000 euro each, that were due to be auctioned were recognised by Department staff as being among the items that had been placed in private storage.
