A search has gotten underway in Lixnaw this morning for a man missing from the area.

Valentia Coastguard is assisting Gardaí with the search for 70-year-old farmer Jim Keane of Dysert, Lixnaw.

A search began after the top of Mr Keane’s tractor was sighted yesterday in the River Brick, which adjoins his farmland.

The Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue boat and a Ballybunion Coastguard unit are at the scene this morning.

It’s feared Mr Keane’s tractor may have slid into the tidal river, but it’s currently being treated as a missing person case.
