A Scottish sex offender who failed to notify Gardai of his address in Kerry has been ordered out of the county.
George Clingain with an address at Ravel Row, Parkhead, Glasgow was charged by Gardai on August 15th last.
The 38 year old was convicted of having images of child pornography and is on the sex offender’s register.
Tralee District Court was told before Mr Clingain arrived in Kerry on August 7th he had travelled to his late father’s birthplace in Co Donegal. He was discovered by Gardai living under a bridge near the Fel’s Point Hotel, Tralee as he had run out of money.
His solicitor Padraig O’Connell told Judge Angela Condon that he was not aware he had to register his presence with Gardai but added his client had fully co-operated with Gardai and didn’t commit any offence during his time here.
Judge Condon described the matter as very serious.
She handed down a four month sentence which she suspended for one year on condition Mr Clingain leaves the jurisdiction and doesn’t return for two years.
Gardai said Mr Clingain was leaving for Scotland today (FRIDAY) and this was being facilitated by the authorities.
