12pm – Plans to build new primary and secondary schools in Milltown are at the design stage. The Department of Education’s design team visited the site yesterday and held discussions with secondary school principal Cormac Bonner and chairman of the board of management Eamonn Fitzgerald. The €6million project is expected to get underway next year and will give a jobs boost to mid-Kerry. Milltown secondary school currently comprises 17 portakabins across two sides of the road and caters for almost 550 students. The primary building will accommodate the amalgamation of the two schools run by the Presentation Sisters and the Presentation brothers. Principal of the secondary school Cormac Bonner says he’s confident the buildings will proceed.
