Thirty-two Roses representing Irish communities all over the world have been presented with a certificate of their Irish heritage.
The contestants at this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival are now getting ready for the Rose Ball this evening.
Tickets for the ball sold out in July and the Roses will be among 1,000 people attending tonight’s gala event, one of the highlights of the festival.
Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Pat McCarthy, officially welcomed the Roses to Tralee at a ceremony in the Wetlands Centre.
He told them he can remember the first Rose of Tralee Festival in 1959.
Meanwhile, Perth Rose Denise Lynch, a native of Ballyseedy, Tralee, says taking part in the festival for her is a dream come true.
