The organisers of the Rose of Tralee International Festival have paid tribute to the event’s former president, Gerald O’Reilly.
Mr O’Reilly, who passed away on Saturday, was the President of the Festival of Kerry in the 1980s.
Spokesman for the festival, John Drummey, said they wanted to offer their deepest sympathies to Mr O’Reilly’s family.
Mr Drummey said they also wished former Rose of Tralee presenter, Gay Byrne, the very best and wished him a speedy recovery.
Yesterday, the 82-year-old broadcaster revealed doctors fear he might have prostate cancer and that it has spread to his back.
