The Rose Hotel in Tralee has been formally opened.
The hotel, formerly known as Fels Point, was bought by Dick and Eibhlin Hennggeler – parents of the late Dorothy, who was the 2011 Washington DC Rose.
After the ribbon was cut balloons were released in memory of Dorothy and the hotel, which has undergone extensive refurbishment, was blessed.
A party with invited guest takes place this evening from 6 to 8 o’clock.
Plans are continuing to develop an entertainment and conference centre on the site adjacent to the hotel, which will give a permanent home to the Rose of Tralee International Festival.
