Roadworks signA road in North Kerry poses a major health and safety risk to users.

Mike O’Neill, chairman of the Cloghaneleiskirt Bog Development, says a 900 metre section of the Kilfeighney North Road in Lyreacrompane is extremely unsafe.

Mr O’Neill claims the L10466, which provides access to the bog for over 200 families, has fallen into disrepair recently due to poor weather conditions.

Kerry County Council, who has estimated the cost of repairs at €112,500, says the road is not on the Multi-Annual Roads Improvement Programme.

However, Mr O’Neill says the road is currently not passable, and it needs remedial work to prevent any accidents.
