There’s been a rise in the number of people waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Kerry.

That’s according to analysis of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley and Ward Watch figures for the second week of July.

The numbers waiting on trolleys in Kerry more than doubled to 36 people last week, compared to 16 during the same time last year; there was a 38% increase nationally.

The figures had reduced during June; there were 105 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Kerry last month; 24% fewer than the same month last year.
