The Renua Party has a future and will persevere with their principals, despite its co-founder Lucinda Creighton stepping down.
That’s according to Dónal Corcoran who ran as a candidate for the party in the Kerry Constituency in the last General Election.
Mr Corcoran was present at the members meeting in Portlaoise on Saturday at which Ms Creighton stepped down.
This was no surprise he said as the party’s constitution dictates that its leader must be an elected public representative and Ms Creighton failed to retain her seat as a TD.
He said while mistakes were made, there is a great sense of optimism going forward within the party.
