The party asked Tralee county councillor Norma Foley to join Renua and stand for them at the upcoming general election.
Renua Ireland, whose leader is Deputy Lucinda Creighton, the former Fine Gael minister for Europe, has made a number of approaches to Cllr Norma Foley.
Norma Foley’s from one of the leading Fianna Fáil dynasties in the county; her late father Denis was a longstanding TD for Kerry North.
She herself ran for Fianna Fáil in Kerry North in the 2007 General Election and stood unsuccessfully as a party candidate for selection for this year’s contest.
Cllr Foley told Renua Ireland that she wants to remain within Fianna Fáil.
Renua has declined to comment.
However, a party spokesperson says they are still actively pursuing a candidate to run in Kerry in the upcoming general election.
