The three orders’ child protection policies were praised.

The Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, which has its Irish headquarters  in Castleisland, was found to have a child safeguarding policy that’s of a good standard.

There’ve  been no allegations of abuse against any members of the order in Ireland which has no direct ministry with children.

The Bon Secours Sisters established its hospital in Tralee in 1921 which is now a private facility under the governance of a Board of Directors.

The hospital has its own child safeguarding policy and procedures and doesn’t fall within the terms of reference of the review published today.

The review found that the Bon Secours Sisters have a very impressive policy to  safeguard children and vulnerable adults.

There’s been no allegation against any member of the order in Ireland.

The Loreto Sisters, which established schools throughout Ireland including Kerry, is a much larger religious congregation.

Nationally, nine allegations were made against Loreto Sisters, none of which involved  any allegations of child sexual abuse.

The report found the Loreto Sisters had a caring approach to safeguarding children.
